Tax for the Text Messaging Service

Published by: Eron of Talk Loud | Dated: 7th of April, 2009

The Philippines is known to be the “Text Messaging Capital of the World” and we all agree with that. Because every Filipino that can afford to buy a cellular phone are addicted to the text messaging service that telecom companies offer. But recently there is news that the Philippine government wanted to take tax from it.

A 10 centavos tax for every sending of text messaging is pushed by the Philippine government to all of the subscribers. We know that telecom companies will not let themselves to suffer this if it is been implemented because they will just raise the text messaging service to P0.10. This issue is not acceptable to the Senators and they do not want this to happen. This said tax is good if you can see changes but if the P0.10 just goes to the pouch of corrupted government officials, it will just worsen the current situation.
