Added Protection for the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW)
Published by: Eron of Talk Loud | Dated: 19th of April, 2009The Overseas Filipino Workers or also known as OFW are the new age heroes for the Philippines. All of the remittances that came from these migrant workers are approximately said to be 11% of the total budget of our country, Philippines. It is one of the main reasons why our country survives to the slight economic downfall.

The House Bill No. 5649 or also known as “An Act Improving the Standards of Protection and Assistance for Migrant Workers,” gives the power to control and monitor the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) if they are not doing their job. If in any case that an OFW has been placed to an unsafe zone for his or her job then the law can act. This also requires all agencies in the government, which gives Filipino to work abroad, to submit their semi annual report.
It is important to protect our “Bagong Bayani” or OFW, because without their large amount of remittances maybe the Philippines’ economic standing is now shaking.

Filipino workers need to be given more protection when they work overseas. Many things happened related to Filipino abusement.
we should acknowledge our OFW because theyre our pride. they help a lot with regards to our economy.
as regards to that Filipinos Overseas Workers they should have a protection from our government especially for those who recruited illegally and in case for torture.

OFW really needs that kind of protection. Some of them were abused and that’s very sad. They went there to work for their family and after they will be abused.
We should give credit to all OFW. They are the new hero of our generation. Protection is a must especially for seamans. They need a proper training and knowledge.
YES…OFW needs protection from our goverment…and we need to change the appointed officer in the embassy….especially in BAHRAIN…many OFW case …still not finished..and they just leave till it junk..they must be change the OWWA staff and appointed Ambassador..they must appoint like SEN:Miriam Defensor Santiago…can fight all the problems….most OFW go home to their homeland with full of heartache….coz of this OWWA …never do anything…i hope you can post this comment in front of any daily news paper here and abroad.
