Philippines is at 6, Dangerous Country for Journalist

Published by: Eron of Talk Loud | Dated: 24th of March, 2009

Journalists are known to be the people who give out news to let the public know what is going on to its nation and also to the world. Because of them, sometimes corrupted government officials are being jailed and revealed their fake reputation for being a lawful person. Their doings are a big part in changing a nation.

Truth = Death

But recently, the CPJ (Committee to Protect Journalists) sent out its report to public and stated that the Philippines is at ranked number 6 from their list of dangerous countries for journalist. Here’s the list.

  1. Iraq (88 unsolved media killings)
  2. Sierra Leone (9 unsolved media killings)
  3. Somalia (6 unsolved media killings)
  4. Sri Lanka (9 unsolved media killings)
  5. Colombia (16 unsolved media killings)
  6. Philippines (24 unsolved media killings)
  7. Afghanistan (7 unsolved media killings)
  8. Nepal (5 unsolved media killings)
  9. Russia (15 unsolved media killings)
  10. Pakistan (10 unsolved media killings)
  11. Mexico (6 unsolved media killings)
  12. Bangladesh (12 unsolved media killings)
  13. Brazil (5 unsolved media killings)
  14. India (7 unsolved media killings)

This is a very disturbing issue for all Filipinos, if this is true, because our beloved country, Philippines, is lined up next together with the countries that are currently on conflicts and war (sample is Iraq). How come we ranked out at number 6? And the 24 unsolved media killings, what is happening out there? We all hope that our government must move faster for this to change because our country’s reputation from the world is at stake.
