No Uniform for Public School Students

Published by: Eron of Talk Loud | Dated: 6th of June, 2008

Many families can’t afford to buy school uniforms for their children. The reason is simple; they just don’t have enough budget for it and aside from that, they will surely also buy school supplies.

Due to this reason, our president announces that uniforms are now NOT in need for public school students or in short term “No Uniforms”. If you ask why do schools have their own uniforms, first students will look presentable to visitors or faculty members, second for promotional purposes meaning you can easily figured out in what school a student is in to. If this will happen some will surely abuse it and bad things will come up. There are always a disadvantages and advantages to this kind of set up in the public schools. We always hope the good ones.

I beg to disagree with the said announcement of the president. I’ts not true that public school students can’t afford to buy a uniform. It will not lessen the problem of poverty of the students in the public school it will open another problem example security, the school personnel cannot monitor who goes in and out in the school premise. We must face the reality that a short term solution do not solves the problem. The government must take a serious solutions for the said problem. The Ultimate problem is corruption in the government. If this is solve, it will have a domino effect to a years of problem in the government!

I think there must be an exception on this issue. Only the poor students should be allowed to not use or wear a uniform because not all of the students in public schools is poor, some of them can afford to buy uniforms for their children. I agree with bigpuff regarding the security in our public schools because it will be hard for the school to monitor who’s students belong to them. It can attract tresspassers and other things which is not good for the school and the students. Maybe, some will say there is an ID system but we all know that not all schools whether private or public is implenting a strict ID system.
